This full moon is highly focused on our relationships and paving our own path of individuality and authenticity within them. Relationships will be a pivotal theme of the rest of this winter and spring as Venus enjoys one of its relatively rare retrograde periods between March 1st and April 12th. During this full moon, Venus is at 5 degrees of Aries, already in the middle of the shadow phases which streches from 23 degrees of Pisces to 10 degrees of Aries.
The full moon, at 24 Leo, is opposed by the sun at 24 Aquarius and Mercury at 26 Aquarius. This underscores the pivotal role that communication will play in the upcoming weeks and months. As the ruler of Leo, the sun is the ruler of this full moon. And in Aquarius it urges us to be true to ourself at all cost. And with Mercury closely conjunct, the message is to communicate accordingly. So while Leo encourages us to lead from the heart and share ourself boldly, the sun in Aquarius reminds us to be thoughtful about what that truly means. If we are merely sharing or expressing as a way to get attention or to feel validated by others (shadow Leo) then we may not be in the highest trust and alignment with ourselves. Addressing that is a necessary step before we can truly meet others from the heart level.
Uranus, at 23 degrees Taurus, is tightly square the sun and moon, forming a T square. Those with planets between 23-27 degrees of Scorpio may feel this full moon strongly, especially in whichever domain those planets rule over. Uranus is not afraid to shake things up. It can cause disruptions that force issues to the surface to be dealt with. It doesn’t care about whether things are pretty or tidy. And with Venus, the “pretty and tidy” planet, in assertive Aries now, we may just be throwing “pretty and tidy” out the window for the time being. The real issues these planets are urging us to consider is whether the situations on the table for us are real, honest, authentic, significant, heart-felt and whether they feel liberating and forward-focused. If they aren’t then we may not have the patience to be ‘encumbered’ by them.
There is an energetic cost to everything we choose to do and engage with. This is one of the primary messages of this full moon, especially as it also features a very prominent Mars out-of-bounds, retrograde, and stationing at 17 degrees Cancer. Mars in Cancer is already self-focused and protective. But OOB and retrograde, these messages are emphasized even more. If something doesn’t FEEL good to us, then we should consider it a red flag to make us reconsider our OWN way of engaging in the situation. Where Mars in Cancer can sometimes get into trouble is when it tries to force or manage other peoples behavior for its own sense of comfort or perceived safety. We only ever have control over our own choices and actions. We must learn to listen better to our bodies messages and take aligned action from that place.
This is the gift and blessing of this Mars Rx. And with Mars also trine to Neptune and Saturn in Pisces (who will be massive players in the upcoming March eclipse season), we have this *final* opportunity before Mars goes direct on February 23rd to *re-align* (retrograde) our Mars compass and operating system. Mars is all about action, so we can choose to engage our effort and focus only on what is truly serving our longterm, sustainable sense of peace, safety and emotional equilibrium. This is profound. If we are able to move the needle in a positive direction, even a little bit, in this endeavor- then all of our other choices and actions will benefit tremendously. We can cut down and external noise and clutter and focus just on our own path, which is after all, a key component to thriving in an authentic and empowered way.
Now is the time to heed radical Uranus unsentimental messages and clear out the clutter of anything that is ‘dimming our light’ or keeping us sentimentally focused on the past at the expense of the ever present now. The more we can radically accept where we are in the present moment and what we truly desire to bring forward with us into the future, the better prepared we will be for the upcoming March/April eclipse season and the new that wants to unfold in our lives.
