This is a gorgeous new moon exactly conjunct the planet of love, creativity, beauty and prosperity, Venus! The sun, moon and Venus are united at 16 degrees of Gemini helping to consolidate our energy into focusing on these areas in our life.
Where can we apply our unique creative vision? What in our financial lives requires our attention? What adjustments can help us improve and strengthen our relationships? How can we make like Venus and use our resources and assets wisely? Since these planets are clustered in the sign of Gemini, the answers often revolve around communication. So no matter what we decide we want to focus on, whether its one of the topics above or ALL of them simultaneously (very Gemini) – we are advised to pay special attention to HOW we communicate about our needs, desires, and the choices we are making.
Mercury, Gemini’s ever busy ruler, is also in the sign of the twins and at 6 degrees is conjunct expansive Jupiter at 2 degrees. This can be a double edged sword. Jupiter is bold and extroverted so if we need help saying what we want to say, Jupiter pushes Mercury to just get on with it, and not overthink so much. However, Jupiter can also be dogmatic, self-righteous and prone to exaggeration. So watching any tendency we may have to blow things out of proportion or go over-the-top will help us stay on an even keel.
And staying on an even keel is important with 5 planets in the quick and sometimes scattered sign of Gemini! While there are wonderful possibilities in the air now, we can also easily get distracted, overwhelmed or struggle to decipher exactly what we want from amongst all of the possibilities. That will continue to be a theme for the upcoming year with Jupiter in Gemini until June of 2025.
The conjunction of Venus and the sun is a special annual event and when Venus is moving forwards it is known as the superior conjunction. Last summer, we had a Venus retrograde in Leo, and the inferior conjunction, when Venus was Rx occurred on August 13th. We can think back to what was happening around that time for some clues about what might be back up for reassessment now. It’s possible that relationships, or creative projects, that began then are starting to bloom, or reach a new phase.
Reviewing the Venus Rx in Leo post could also assist us to gauging how well we have managed to put our “upgraded Venus” into action over the past 10 months, and where we may want to double down on our efforts. This new moon conjunct Venus will assist us in these endeavors, whether it’s to line up some new dates, add spark back into our relationships, or bring in some new sources of income.
Saturn, at 18 degrees of Pisces is getting ever closer to Neptune at 29 degrees of that sign. Neptune is stationing at that degree making it very strong (it will turn retrograde there on July 2nd) and amping up our intuition and imagination through the roof. This is especially magnified because the 29th degree, the anaretic degree, is extra potent. So taking the time to rest, meditate, channel, journey, or otherwise connect to our higher selves and guidance is very supported and beneficial. Especially with so many Geminian ideas, possibilities, and options on the table.
As mentioned, Saturn at 18 degrees of Pisces is inching closer to conjunction with Neptune, but in the meantime is firmly square to this new moon and Venus. Although squares are often described as challenging, this is another *helpful* aspect that will aid us in narrowing our Geminian focus. A major theme of the 3 year transit of Saturn in Pisces (2023-2026) is helping us get back on our highest, most steady and supported soul path. If we get overwhelmed with too many options in front of us, it is easy to go off course or squander our energy and momentum. Saturn the pragmatist helps us see what is REALLY in front of us and reminds us that all that glitters is not gold. Saturn helps us distill what pursuits, relationships and efforts are truly worth it in the long term. And again, Neptune’s keen psychic perception is helping us with this discernment as well, albeit in a more fluid and intuitive way.
Uranus marches forward on its 7 year journey through Taurus. Now at 24 degrees of that sign it continues to encourage us to abandon the old, stale, outdated and irrelevant in our lives. Venus and Saturn are both invested in cultivating rich rewards : Saturn in a practical sense and Venus in a more sensual and indulgent sense. With LOTS of action in Taurus activating Uranus over the past several months and years, we have gotten a better sense of what/where/who feels abundant and fertile in our lives NOW, and what feels like old news, or weeds that have seeped in and taken up too much of our time and resources. Cutting those chords and moving on to more stimulating and aligned alliances and opportunities is what is on the table now.
And finally, we have assertive Mars, strong as ever as it wraps up its stay in its home sign of pioneering Aries. Mars in Aries is intrepid, brave and instinctual. While the strong Gemini energy might get distracted or overwhelmed, especially with the Pisces planets also strong, Mars in Aries cuts through the moment like a knife. What do you REALLY want? it whispers. What makes your heart beat faster? If you weren’t censoring yourself or overthinking, what would you do or be or say YES to? Mars in Aries is thus a wonderful ally here encouraging us to let our heart and our fire and our enthusiasm be the barometers of what we are choosing from the many options available to us.
Dreams can come true now. Venus was the most revered and adored planet in ancient astrology, along with Jupiter. And this new moon sees the sun, moon, and Mercury all line up with Venus and Jupiter in Gemini. It would have been cause for celebration in a bygone era! But we can still choose to celebrate in our own lives, and set intentions that honor our desire to choose wisely in soul alignment, communicate clearly with integrity, and allow our hearts desires to lead our path forward. Worth celebrating indeed!
