This is an intense, and indeed quite karmic, full moon. The sun and moon, at 20 degrees of Libra and Aries respectively, are in exact square to transformative Pluto at 20 degrees of Capricorn. The last 10 degrees of Capricorn are exceedingly important currently, as they are the setting for the pivotal conjunctions which take place in 2020. They are also some of the degrees being traversed by the eclipses we have been having since mid 2018.
So in some ways what we are experiencing now is not ‘new territory’ at all, in fact it may be hauntingly and uncomfortably familiar. Pluto represents the underworld, everything that is buried, hidden, in shadow, suppressed, and often in decay. It is connected to the parts of ourselves we would rather not see or acknowledge. This full moon in such potent aspect to Pluto brings all of these uncomfortable psychological themes to the surface. And because these themes play out in our lives not only internally, but also mirrored to us through the state of the home we live in, the possessions we have, and the relationships we engage in- they too are being reassessed and reappraised right now. Not in their highest, most spiritual sense, but in the true practical sense of how they are energetically contributing to, or depleting, our lives.
The full moon itself, placed in aggressive and headstrong Aries, gives us a sense of urgency and creates restlessness as we attempt to understand what is at play here and get on with it. However, Aries’s ruler, Mars, the ruler of the lunation, is place in Aries’ opposite sign of Libra, handicapping its strength, since Libra is the sign of cooperation and balance. Emotionally we want to just get on with it, but there are others we have to contend with now. After all, life is a communal experience. And exactly how we live that life, in harmony with others and yet in integrity with our innermost truth and values, is what is at stake here.
Venus, the planet associated with values, relationships and money, is at 6 degrees of Scorpio, in nearly exact opposition to radical Uranus at 5 degrees of Taurus. We simply must be true to what feels right for us now.. no matter the cost. Uranus can cut chords like flicking off a light switch, and Pluto is unafraid of storms that turn everything we once knew upside down. Changes, and transformations, are immanent. Relationships may end. New ones may begin. This is not the time for nostalgia or dilly-dallying. A new future awaits, and the more we resist it or drag our feet, the stronger the discomfort. This is especially true since disciplinarian Saturn, close by to Pluto at 14 degrees of Capricorn, is firmly reminding us that we need also to clean up our paper trail and tangible obligations in order to have this true catharsis and re-set.
As has been for the past several months, spiritual Neptune and expansive Jupiter are allies here. Though their ongoing square is now separating, they both play positive roles in this lunation. Jupiter at 20 degrees of Sagittarius is exactly trine to the full moon. Our vision for what we want, where we want to be, how we want things to be different, is writ large. It is just a matter of digging through the detritus of what we have already created, excavating what is valuable and leaving the rest, which we have to get on with- and that is no easy task. But mystical Neptune, exalted in its own sign, at 16 degrees of Pisces, and in harmonious aspect to Mercury in Scorpio, as well as Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, is whispering answers and guidance in our ears every step of the way. That is, if we will pause to ask, and be brave enough to follow through. The more internal and external housecleaning we can do now, the better position we will be in come January 2020 when many of these same Pluto aspects are reactivated.
