This new moon has a raw energy that can feel at times cathartic, and at other times chaotic. The sun and moon, united at 3 degrees of earthy and pragmatic Taurus, are both conjunct electrifying Uranus, the planet of disruption and progress. Again, in some ways this could feel exciting and even enlightening. But given that Taurus tends to prefer things slow and steady, leaning on the status quo, the disruptive energy of Uranus may serve to shake up the few remaining pieces of the system that have hitherto been holding themselves together during this unprecedented time.
Taurus is also related to money and financial systems, so during this month with Uranus so prevalent we may expect more of a rollercoaster ride as far as both collective finances (the stock market) and our own personal financial situation. This is exacerbated by the fact that that the new moon (and Uranus) are tightly square to discipline-oriented Saturn at 1 degree of Aquarius. The Saturn/Uranus square is a macro lesson that will last for several months reminding us of how we as individuals fit into a larger picture. Regardless of what our job/role is, it may have been easy in the past to move along on our personal auto-pilot forgetting the specifics of exactly where and how we fit into the big picture, and the other people who are involved in our industry or any various part of our lives. Saturn and Uranus are reminding us that we must have a more nuanced, and realistic, understanding of what we are offering, and bring it into highest aligned service for the collective.
The ruler of the new moon is the ruler of Taurus, the planet of love and money- Venus. Venus is at 15 degrees of Gemini and getting ready to begin a 5 week retrograde in that sign. Between May 13th and June 25th, Venus will be retrograde in the communications and ideas oriented Gemini. This will help us to see all sides of the situation and come up with novel and innovative solutions related to the issues mentioned above about work and service, and specifically how they connect to our relationships and finances.
Venus is, however, only 1 of FOUR planets that go retrograde during this new moon cycle (which last until the next new moon in Gemini on May 22nd). Pluto goes retrograde on April 25th, Saturn goes retrograde on May 11th, and Jupiter goes retrograde on May 14th. This means that none of these answer or solutions will come easily or quickly. Regrogrades have to do with going within; processing information and turning to our higher wisdom for solutions rather than rushing things or continuing on auto-pilot. We all have a lot of processing and healing that we need to do and that work will commence during this new moon cycle.
If we can tap into the highest vibrational possibilities of this new moon, we could open ourselves up to highly innovative, even brilliant, creativity and solutions. Uranus is connected to genius, and with Venus also in bright Gemini, our minds are working quickly without the baggage of stale pre-conceived notions.
This detachment from old ways of thinking, and openness to new information and solutions, is a MAJOR theme of the coming months and years, especially given that the Lunar Nodes will also change signs during this new moon period, into Gemini and Sagittarius. Full blog post on that here. During this time we had all better get ready to look at “things” (ourselves, our lives, the economy, the environment) with a fresh set of eyes. Gemini and Sagittarius are interested in what is possible, NOT in “how it’s always been done”. And it is fresh perspective that we need more than ever now. With Uranus having a heavy hand in this new moon cycle, we can remind ourselves that whatever shocking or seemingly unwelcome news might come onto our radar in the near future, it is ultimately is giving us a better idea of where we need to reset and revise things, and we will have plenty of opportunity to do that during the upcoming retrogrades.
Stay safe and Be Well,
